Company Prepares to Target New Proteins in New Markets

SAN FRANCISCO – August 3, 2015 – BluWrap, the technology company that naturally extends the shelf life of fresh proteins, announced today it has hired Dr. Alex Oliveira as Vice President of Scientific Affairs. Dr. Oliveira has over 20 years of experience in seafood processing, quality, and safety, is renowned for her expertise in seafood proteins and modified atmosphere packaging. She will be leading BluWrap’s protein science activities as the company extends its technology to non-seafood proteins, and expands into new markets.

Dr. Oliveira joins BluWrap from Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute and was previously a tenured associate professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles in scientific journals, several book chapters and many other publications addressing diverse technical aspects of fish and shellfish products. Dr. Oliveira is a professional member of the Institute of Food Technology and the Alaska representative for the Pacific Fisheries Technologists Association. She is also an AFDO certified HACCP instructor and maintains Affiliate Faculty status at the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Science.
